I was born to Julia G. Pires in Fogo, Cabo Verde.

We immigrated to the United States and lived in Dorchester, MA until age 10.

Spending nostalgic days with cousins.

I moved to New Bedford MA, along with my mother and siblings (Rosa, Rolando, Rolanda and Filipe). Taijour was born in November 1990.

I graduated from Gomes Elementary School.

An amazing program that prepared me for and launched me into college. Rolanda and I attended Upward Bound together.

I attended Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA . I made lifelong friends, like Yasmin, who is a sister to me.

I met Riz during the first week of classes. I watched him approach with his New York swagger on full display. Immediately, my inner voice spoke loudly, stating “there is something special about him!”

Riz proposed marriage. We have been married for almost 25 years.

1997-2000 - Riz and I moved to New York to work.

Riz and I tied the knot in a small (and very hot) church in New Bedford, MA.

2000-2003 - I matriculated at Boston College Law School. I am the first person in the history of my family to attend and graduate from college and earn a post-graduate degree.

I completed my first marathon at 26.2 miles (the same route as the Boston Marathon).

We overcame the pandemic years and gratitude flows.
